The following were presented and adopted at a Councillors Meeting of the SCCI on Wednesday 21 March 2018, for presentation at its AGM on Wednesday 28th March 2018 at the STC Conference Centre, Latanier Road:

SCCI Annual General Meeting - AGM 2018

Wednesday 28th March 2018 at 14:00hrs at the STC Conference Centre

Order of the Agenda as follows:

  1. Brief welcoming address by the Master of Ceremony
  2. SCCI Annual Report by the Acting Chairman
  3. Approval and Adoption of Minutes of last AGM 2017
  4. Presentation of Statement of Accounts and Auditor’s Report (2017) by the Treasurer.
  5. The adoption of Accounts and appointment of an Auditor
  6. Two Motions to be presented
  7. Election of a Chairman for 2018-2020 mandate
  8. Vote of Thanks and closing address by the SCCI Chairman

Nominations received for the post of Chairman for 2018-2020 mandate as prescribed by the AGM Notice published on 6th, 7th and 8th March 2018:

Motions received to be presented at the AGM:

Motion 1

Motion Title: Election of Councilors and Chairperson

Submitted by: Mr Raja Ramani

Be it Resolved: That the election of Councilors and Chairperson should be held at the same AGM for a tenure of 2 years.

Rationale: Should the members of the SCCI feel that the Council has not been representative of the private sector or has not been functional as required or discharged their duties per the constitution, this would allow the change the composition of the whole Council as and when required.


Motion 2

Motion Title: Nominations for posts be made from the floor

Submitted by: Mr Raja Ramani

Be it Resolved: That Nominations for the posts which need to be elected can be made from the floor at an AGM

Rationale: As the members of the SCCI would not be aware of who have filed the nominations until the day of the AGM, and should they feel that the any position on the council be better served by anyone better qualified to do so, such nomination should be allowable.
